At last we could move on! With no damage award, the Club had to find a way to maintain financial stability while compensating those members who had paid dues in 2004 and had been awaiting the resolution of the legal case. The Finance Committee devised a plan to spread over three years the credits for that portion of the dues paid for the 2004 season that exceeded the $350 assessment. While these arrangements do not affect you as a new member, they show that once again, the Club relied on the wisdom and work of volunteers.

We start the 2008 season with a new and well-recommended management company to handle staffing, operation of our salt-cell water purification system, and cleaning of the Club’s facilities. But what really makes the UCSC a success is the on-going community spirit of our members. It’s not just for IRS purposes that we are organized as a social club! Of course we depend on our members to be considerate of each other and to comply with the rules that have been developed for the health and safety of all. More importantly, we think you can see why so many have worked so hard to make the Club what it is today.

We encourage you to get to know the others around you. It’s not hard to strike up a conversation with a fellow lounger, splasher, diver or even lapper! We invite you to attend the member meetings in June and September, to enjoy the Independence Day picnic and games, to come to the dances or the late night swims, to pull a few weeds with the gardeners, or to join a committee to help administer the Club.

Welcome to the UCSC family!
